Cooper: 18 Months

I am having the hardest time choosing where to begin with this post about you, kiddo. Mostly because I just can't believe you are EIGHTEEN MONTHS OLD already. It went by so fast. And today, I feel like my heart is trying to catch up.

There are so many things we love about you, bubba.

You do this thing where you won't keep your left shoe on your foot. ALWAYS that left shoe.
Your spunky personality comes with a stoic expression at times. I love watching people take a stab at making you smile.
Your dark hair is lightening up and growing long. And those curls back there!
You love riding the bike with Daddy and wrestling with your brother.
You're a climber and an explorer.
And we think you might be a lefty.
Bath times are the best times.
Your favorite books are Jimmy Fallon's "Everything is Mama" and "Dada."
You are very particular about reading those before bed.
Your favorite food is banana, but you're also hooked on bagels with cream cheese.
You do NOT like applesauce.
You are somehow a complete momma's AND daddy's boy.
But Nolan is your favorite.
You are an absolute nut and are always up for an adventure.
One of your favorite parts of the day is picking Nolan up from school and getting to see all of the school buses.
You suck your thumb while you fall asleep.
You have serious FOMO (fear of missing out).
Your messes are impressive. You leave a trail of toys, socks, books, grocery bags, all kinds of things...everywhere you go.
You're working on walking but honestly show zero rush to do so. We have a feeling it won't be too much longer though. You do you, baby.
You love the beach.

And we love YOU.
You help keep our hands and our hearts so full.
Happy year and a half birthday (a little late), bud!

Cooper: One Year!

Cooper. you're. ONE.

There is so much that we love about you, bud!
You love veggies and are eating solids like a champ.
Your first word was "baba," then you said "mama," and you actually started saying "dada" just yesterday.
You weigh 18 lb., 9 oz.
You prefer to army crawl EVERYWHERE even though you could totally crawl on all fours if you wanted to.
Your favorite book is Jimmy Fallon's "Everything is Mama"
I love the way you knowingly scoot to your brother's room to get into his toys while he's away at school.
You are funny and love to make us laugh.
Nolan is your favorite human on the planet.
You're a new-level type of busy that we're figuring out as we go.
You go with our flow and love being around people.
You have four beautiful teeth and chew on your socks more than you wear them.
And you have serious FOMO (fear of missing out).

We just couldn't be more grateful that God wrote you into our family's story because we'd have the fear of missing out on you.
We. Love. You.

We celebrated Cooper's birthday exactly one week ago, and it was absolutely the sweetest afternoon spent over warm chili and a pumpkin carving contest with close friends and family. God was so kind to be near and to remind us of his grace especially amongst the party prep.
Kev encouraged me to begin my morning with Jesus and not with the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the party. I'm so glad we did, because that led us to pray together and ask the Lord to remind us today of the same faithfulness he showed us one year ago. And He did.
Kev would later share with me a story about how he went to Publix to pick up the cupcakes and ran into Dr. Buckler OF ALL PEOPLE. My hospital room on the evening of Coop's birth was full of a dozen people. But this was the first person to care for Cooper outside of the womb, the man who so steadfastly looked Kev in the eye as our baby was being rushed to the NICU, the guy who gave Kev the low-down, and who the Lord somehow used to remind my husband that God was with us and everything was going to be okay.
Kevin ran into Dr. Buckler for the first time since our NICU days at Publix, picking up cupcakes, for Cooper's first birthday, that just so happened to actually be THAT DAY.
If that isn't a glimpse into the kindness of God and his timing, then I don't know what is.
Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
We were so grateful to start the day off remembering just that.
And the celebration continued!
